Roger Gonzales
President

Roger Gonzales was born and raised in Westminster,CA. He attended Westminster High School, Golden West College and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio/Television and Film from California State University, Long Beach and a Masters degree in Educational Administration from Chapman University. He has been teaching English at Lindsay High School since 1999.

Katryn Gonzales
Treasurer

Katryn Gonzales was born in Hollywood, CA. and raised in Lindsay, CA. She attended Lindsay High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Entomology at the University of California, Riverside and a Masters degree in Education from Chapman University. She has been teaching science at Lindsay High School since 1997.

Hector Diaz
Secretary

Hector Diaz was raised in Lindsay, CA. He attended Lindsay High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of California, Davis. After graduating from college, Hector quickly became a role model and mentor to many Lindsay students as an outreach counselor at Steve Garvey Junior High. Hector has since found a career in agricultural management with David Evans Farming, a predominant company in the Central Valley.

Fundraisers

We have recently established ourselves as a non-profit organization. The primary source of income is from private donations from people interested in furthering our vision. If you would like to donate to our cause please send a check or money order to the address below. All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible.

Should you have an employer who would sponsor a donation in your name, please contact us and we will make all of the arrangements (see attachment below for sponsorship letter).

The Lindsay Orange Blossom 10K/5K Fun Run will be an annual fundraising event to generate funds for the scholarship. Please check the website for updated information on that.

Race day is upon us! April 17, 2010 at the McDermont Fieldhouse in Lindsay. If you were unable to mail in your registration form, you may register on the day of the event. Race day registration will open at 7:00 am. The run will begin promptly at 8:00 am. All proceeds to benefit Lindsay High School graduates.

Success Stories

Perla Soria-
Perla graduated from the University of California, Berkley with degrees in Chicano studies and sociology. Following her work at the University of California, Berkley, Perla attended U.S.C., where she earned a graduate degree in counseling. Perla holds strong ties to her hometown and promised to return when she was finished with her education. True to her word, Perla has returned to Lindsay, where she has taken the position of Migrant Counselor for the Lindsay Unified School District.
Hector Diaz-
Hector graduated from the University of California, Davis. As well as being a founding member of our foundation, he is also very active in the Lindsay community. After serving for a year as an outreach counselor at Steve Garvey Middle School in Lindsay, Hector decided to take a positon in the private sector. He is currently in a managerial position with a local fruit packing company. Hector continues to be a strong role model for many students in Lindsay, as he helps out with youth baseball when he gets a chance.

Laura Jimenez-
Laura graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in molecular biology. She has recently accepted an internship in New Zealand to participate in a study related to her major. Laura is currently being recruited by many of the nation's top universities to attend graduate school. Upon her return from New Zealand, she will decide where she will continue her education.

Orange Blossom 10K/5K Fun Run

The Orange Blossom 10K/5K Fun Run will be run on April 17. It will kick off the days festivities, followed by a parade and carnival. Due to city improvements in the downtown area, the run will take place just outside of town. It will be run on a 5K loop which will start and finish at the McDermont Filedhouse and be routed around the Lindsay Golf Course, Lindsay Health and Wellness Center Pool and Lindsay City Park. The Legacy Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

The Legacy Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (formerly The Gonzales Family Scholarship) was formed as a means to provide underrepresented Lindsay High School students with an alternative means of earning college scholarship money. The name is derived from the idea that a legacy is created with each successive generation of college graduates.

It is our belief that education is a key component in breaking socio-economic barriers. With this in mind, we are making a conscious effort to promote education beyond high school. The Legacy Scholarship Foundation, Inc. started out as a small idea aimed at helping a few local students. In just a few short years, we have grown from offering two very modest scholarships to offering two scholarships of at least $1,000. We have a vision that someday soon, we will be able to pay for the entire college education of deserving students.

The Legacy Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to making our community better one student at a time. Like-minded people with the desire or resources to help us in creating our vision are encouraged to contact us.
